Hyde Park Man Settles for $1 million with city over false confession

Corethian Bell was known to Hyde Parkers for selling incense, the newspaper Streetwise and washing windshields. Several Hyde Parkers helped him to get out of jail after he confessed on video to murdering his mother, who lived in Washington Park, in July, 2002, but DNA tests showed he was innocent and another man guilty. Now, he has settled with the city for $1 million dollars(Sun Times) over his 17 month wrongful improsonement. (Tribune Link)
